NOWGONG COLLEGE has all along been striving to maintain a genuinely humane ambience in the process of learning in order to enable every succeeding generation gain adequate competence in knowledge and skills as well as the confidence to face the future. Scores of students emerging from this institution have consistently brought laurels to their alma mater by establishing themselves as distinguished personalities in different fields -science, education, literature, culture, politics, sports, fine arts, journalism, social work, entrepreneurship and what not. Nowgong College, with its enviable location and infrastructure, is gradually taking the shape of a University. Nineteen departments with over a hundred faculty members give their best to mould the destinies of three thousand students every year. Post-graduate courses are being offered at present by seven departments -English, Assamese, Chemistry, Botany, History, Philosophy and Education. Seminars, workshops and extra-curricular activities are a regular feature of the college which go side-by-side with academics. The departments have good facilities for research activities. Airy and well-equipped classrooms, a digital library attached to the replenished college library with an exclusive reading-room and reference section, a state-of-the-art auditorium besides a lecture hall, an updated indoor stadium, a sleek basket-ball court, Wi-Fi system and office automation constitute the striking properties that have augmented the aura of this hallowed institution. The college cafeteria is widely acclaimed for its maintenance of food quality and hygiene. Martial art training is imparted to interested girl-students to raise their inherent level of confidence and self-dependence. Closed-Circuit cameras enable the authorities to have a constant vigil on the college campus and performance of students
